Our History

Building a Legacy Since 1979

TRICO Companies traces its roots back to 1979, when a team including Jack Schwartz and Ray Paul joined forces as a Structural, Mechanical, and Civil Contractor. We began by serving the Skagit Valley region with crucial infrastructure projects. This included the widening of major roadways like Riverside Drive, Burlington Blvd. and College Way, the construction of the Cascade Mall, and the installation of countless miles of underground utilities. Our expertise extended beyond the Skagit Valley, as we also supported regional oil refineries throughout the 1990s during shutdowns and expansions.

Brian Wolfe, who previously worked with Jack Schwartz at Snelson Anvil, joined TRICO as a partner in 1992. Brian assumed sole ownership in 1995. While initially focused on civil construction, TRICO strategically expanded its portfolio to include vertical construction by 2009.

To solidify the company’s future and welcome new leadership, TRICO Companies, LLC. was formed in 2013 by Brian Wolfe, Bruce Berglin, and Nate Wolfe. This move ensured the continued growth of TRICO’s contracting’s capabilities while fostering a new generation of ownership. Today, under the leadership of CEO Nate Wolfe (appointed in 2024) and core leadership team Andy Connor, Jason Solie, and Brad Philips, TRICO has transformed into a full-service Design-Build General Contractor.

Our expertise now spans multiple construction verticals, including Commercial, Civil, Food Processing, Advanced Manufacturing, and Service sectors. We also have robust feasibility, pre-construction and site development services. We offer these services across seven states: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Arizona, Colorado, Mississippi, and Tennessee and will proudly follow our clients where their growth takes them. TRICO’s commitment to innovation and collaboration ensures we remain a trusted partner for building success across the region.
