Through a partnership between the Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County (EDASC) and Skagit Valley College, Leadership Skagit empowers participants to grow as leaders while building a deeper understanding of Skagit County, its land, its people, and its needs. We’re so proud that Madalyn was part of it!
During the program, Madalyn and her team partnered with O.U.R. Journey, a nonprofit providing one-on-one, culturally sensitive mentorship to trauma-impacted youth, supporting their education, health, and wellness. Together, they organized two open houses to connect O.U.R. Journey with local leaders, law enforcement, residents, and community partners, making a real, tangible impact. They also connected O.U.R. Journey leaders with Camp Korey to facilitate an art project for Camp Korey’s new cabins, giving O.U.R. Journey youth the opportunity to create artwork for campers to enjoy, a beautiful example of O.U.R. Journey’s mission to empower youth to contribute meaningfully to their community.
Madalyn reflected that the experience deepened her appreciation for Skagit County’s land, culture, and the social and environmental challenges its community faces. She shared a powerful reminder that leadership means stepping up when you can while always actively listening to those around you. She’s proud of the lasting relationships she built and is excited to keep showing up, learning, and finding meaningful ways to give back.
This spirit of service, growth, and teamwork is exactly what Madalyn brings to TRICO every single day. As a Project Engineer and Chair of our TRICO Safety Committee, her dedication to her colleagues and her commitment to continuous learning make her an inspiration to us all.
We’re lucky to have you, Madalyn. Congratulations!
