Uncoupled and On Call!

Dec 2, 2025 | Affiliates & Community, Civic / Community / Recreational, News

Poulsbo Fire Department celebrated the ‘uncoupling’ ceremony and official opening of Station 76, marking an important milestone for emergency response in Poulsbo.

During the ceremony, Chief Gillard emphasized that the new station is an essential part of the department’s strategy to enhance emergency response times and support a rapidly growing community. Station 76 will greatly improve initial response coverage on the west side of Poulsbo and in the Scandia/Keyport area. It will also ease the demand for other stations, increasing overall reliability and strengthening response capabilities throughout the entire fire district—from Keyport to Port Gamble, including the City of Poulsbo.

Station 76 was delivered through a unified design-build collaboration between the department, TRICO, Carletti Architects, and Hill International. This model elevated partnership and co-ownership across teams, allowing architect and builder to operate as a single integrated solution-engine focused on schedule, efficiency, and cost performance. Leveraging the best of TRICO’s fire station experience, the team developed creative, value-add solutions that save both time and overall project cost. The result is a highly efficient station that supports three emergency response vehicles and housing for up to four firefighters on duty, optimized for a complex site.

Chief Gillard shared his gratitude for the community’s support, emphasizing that maintaining public trust and using resources wisely were central to every decision during the project.
